Pdf Summary
A study was conducted to analyze the prognostic factors for overall survival (OS) in patients with unresectable advanced/metastatic lung cancer. The study focused on the clinical nodal (cN) categories as a prognostic variable. The data was obtained from the IASLC TNM staging project, involving patients diagnosed between 2011 and 2019.

The study included 466 unresected advanced/metastatic lung cancer cases. The analysis revealed that the cN0-N1 category was independently associated with better OS. Other significant prognostic factors included female gender, non-squamous NSCLC histology, ECOG performance status 2, and extra-thoracic metastasis.

The median OS for the entire cohort was 16.6 months. Subgroup analysis based on key variables showed variations in median OS. For example, OS was higher in females compared to males, non-smokers compared to current/former smokers, and patients with a BMI of 18.5 to 23.0 compared to those with a BMI less than 18.5 or greater than 23.0.

The study highlights the importance of accurate determination of nodal categories in unresected advanced lung cancer. The findings demonstrate that the cN categories have a significant impact on overall survival. These results can help in identifying patients with better prognosis and tailoring treatment strategies accordingly.

In conclusion, the study suggests that the cN category is an independent prognostic factor for overall survival in unresectable advanced/metastatic lung cancer. Further research is needed to validate these findings and explore their implications for clinical practice.
