Pdf Summary
This study aimed to explore the long-term outcomes of patients who underwent segmentectomy for lung cancer in a single institution. The study analyzed data from January 2008 to December 2012 and evaluated both short-term and long-term outcomes. The survival curve was calculated using the Kaplan-Meier method.

The findings showed that segmentectomy was a feasible treatment option for lung cancer, with most cases experiencing recurrence within 5 years. The risk factors associated with recurrence were tumors that were pure solid and larger than 20 mm in size. The study also considered variables such as age, gender, tumor location, pathological stage, and histology.

The details of the surgical procedures were provided, including the operative time, blood loss, and length of postoperative stay. The study reported no 30-day mortality and a low rate of postoperative complications.

The survival curves demonstrated a median survival time of 104 months, and the 5-year recurrence-free survival rate was 88.8%, while the 10-year recurrence-free survival rate was 79.4%. The site of recurrence was mainly locoregional, but there were also cases of distant recurrence.

Multivariate analysis identified pure solid tumor and tumor size larger than 20 mm as significant factors contributing to recurrence.

Comparisons with other studies showed similar or better outcomes in terms of recurrence-free survival and overall survival. The 10-year survival rate in this study was reported as 81.9%, while the 5-year survival rate was 91.6%.

In conclusion, this study provided evidence of the long-term prognosis after segmentectomy for lung cancer. It demonstrated that segmentectomy was a feasible treatment option, but attention should be given to certain risk factors for recurrence. These findings contribute to the understanding of the long-term outcomes of segmentectomy and can inform treatment decisions for patients with lung cancer.
