Pdf Summary
This study aimed to assess the prognostic value of pre-treatment and preoperative fibrinogen levels and the modified Glasgow prognostic score (mGPS) in stage III/N2 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients who received neoadjuvant treatment followed by radical surgery.

The study analyzed the data of 84 patients with stage III/N2 NSCLC who underwent neoadjuvant therapy and complete surgical resection. Fibrinogen levels and mGPS were measured at the time of diagnosis and after neoadjuvant treatment. The data were then correlated with clinical parameters and overall survival.

The results showed that elevated fibrinogen levels after neoadjuvant treatment were significantly associated with poorer overall survival. Conversely, a decrease in fibrinogen levels after neoadjuvant treatment was found to be an independent predictor for favorable survival. Patients with an mGPS of 1-2 had a non-significant trend for poorer overall survival compared to those with an mGPS of 0.

In conclusion, elevated fibrinogen levels after neoadjuvant therapy were found to be detrimental to the overall survival of stage III/N2 NSCLC patients. On the other hand, a decrease in fibrinogen levels after neoadjuvant therapy was predictive of better survival outcomes. These findings suggest that monitoring fibrinogen levels and mGPS may have prognostic value in these patients. However, further studies are needed to validate these findings and determine the clinical implications of these biomarkers.
