The study also found that patients who had progressive disease prior to their COVID-19 diagnosis had a higher mortality rate.<br /><br />The study included a total of 54 lung cancer patients with COVID-19, with an average age of 61.8 years. The in-hospital mortality rate during the same admission was 24.1%, and the total mortality rate, including the 30-day post-discharge period, was 40.7%.<br /><br />In conclusion, the study highlights the high mortality and morbidity rates in lung cancer patients with COVID-19, particularly in those with progressive lung cancer. The findings emphasize the importance of considering the impact of COVID-19 on cancer patients and the need for further research to improve outcomes in this population.
