Pdf Summary
The study evaluated the dose changes in different periods after 125I seed implantation in lung cancer patients. 125I seed brachytherapy is a treatment option for local treatment of lung cancer due to its sustainable, low dose rate, and low damage to peripheral organs. The study aimed to provide a reference for preoperative planning by assessing the dose parameters within six months after implantation.

The study included 69 patients with non-small cell lung cancer who underwent seed implantation. The activity of 125I seeds was continuously attenuated after implantation. The dose parameters were evaluated and compared to the standard dose values of the preoperative plan.

In the first three months after implantation, the dose parameters remained within the effective therapeutic dose range, with the deviation from the standard dose values being relatively low. However, there was a significant dose drop in the next three months. The decrease in dose parameter values was due to both the decrease in seed spacing as the target volume decreased and the attenuation of the seed dose rate.

The study identified the third month as a time node to evaluate the quality of 125I seed implantation surgery. The target volume of the tumor showed a decreasing trend, with the volume shrinkage being higher in the first 13 months compared to the later 36 months.

The planning of CT images was done in different periods using brachytherapy planning treatment system. The activity of particles in the plan was recalculated for different periods. The average value of each dose parameter in each period was taken, and the changes in dose parameters at different time nodes were analyzed.

In conclusion, the study found that the radiation dose can be maintained within the effective therapeutic dose range in the first three months after 125I seed implantation. The third month can be used as a time point to evaluate the quality of the implantation surgery.
