Pdf Summary
The International Thoracic Oncology Nursing Forum (ITONF) collaborated with the Mersal Cancer Center in Egypt to provide a lung cancer education program for Egyptian oncology nurses. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a hybrid delivery method was used, with pre-recorded educational modules being presented to the nurses during a conference. Three ITONF presenters joined the conference via Zoom for a live Q&A session. Positive feedback was received from the Egyptian nurses, and several of them have since joined the ITONF organization and attended virtual webinars. This collaboration with the Mersal Cancer Center was the first customized educational program of its kind, and the success of this effort suggests that it can be replicated in other countries and cancer centers. The hybrid educational model used in this program, which includes live meetings, recorded modules, and live-streamed education, is a practical approach for international oncology nursing education. The educational modules covered various topics related to lung cancer, including an introduction to lung cancer, advanced non-small cell lung cancer, gene mutations, and living with lung cancer. Overall, ITONF serves as a unified source of international thoracic oncology nurses, and this collaboration highlights the organization's commitment to providing education to nurses around the world.
