Pdf Summary
Loss of SUSD2 expression in lung adenocarcinoma is associated with a solid growth pattern, higher histological grading, and shorter progression-free survival (PFS). The study examined the role of SUSD2 expression in the immune infiltrate of lung adenocarcinoma and its correlation with tumor characteristics. SUSD2 is a membrane protein involved in cell-cell and cell-matrix adhesion.

The researchers analyzed tissue samples from 80 surgically resected lung adenocarcinoma specimens. They found that SUSD2 expression was significantly decreased in tumors with a solid growth pattern compared to those with a well-differentiated lepidic pattern. The loss of SUSD2 expression also correlated with higher histological grading, indicating more aggressive tumors. Furthermore, tumors with decreased SUSD2 expression had shorter progression-free survival.

The study also examined the correlation between SUSD2 expression and inflammatory markers. SUSD2 expression was negatively correlated with PD-L1 expression, a marker of immune evasion, and was associated with higher levels of CD8 positive T-cells in the tumor microenvironment. These findings suggest that SUSD2 may have an inhibitory effect on CD8 T cell antitumor function.

Overall, the results indicate that loss of SUSD2 expression in lung adenocarcinoma is associated with more aggressive tumor characteristics and poorer clinical outcomes. The study highlights the importance of SUSD2 in the immunoinfiltrate of lung adenocarcinoma and its potential as a therapeutic target. Further research is needed to better understand the mechanisms underlying the role of SUSD2 in tumor progression and immune response.
