Pdf Summary
This study investigates the prognostic significance of YAP1 (yes-associated protein 1) and its association with neuroendocrine markers in pulmonary large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC). The researchers examined the expression of YAP1 protein and neuroendocrine markers (INSM1, NeuroD1, and DLL3 protein) in 80 resected pulmonary LCNEC patients using immunohistochemical staining. They also evaluated the possible association between these markers and performed survival analyses. The results showed that YAP1 was lowly expressed in LCNECs, particularly in early T stages. YAP1 expression was negatively correlated with INSM1 and DLL3, but not significantly correlated with NeuroD1. In terms of survival analyses, YAP1 expression was associated with worse disease-free survival and overall survival. It was also identified as an independent poor prognostic factor for disease-free survival in pulmonary LCNEC patients. However, no significant independent prognostic factors were found for overall survival. The study suggests that the low expression of YAP1 in LCNECs and its association with worse survival may be related to the dedifferentiation of neuroendocrine characteristics of tumors, but further investigation is needed.
