Pdf Summary
This study investigated the expression of the SLIT2 gene in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients who had a long-term response to pemetrexed. Pemetrexed is a chemotherapy drug commonly used for the treatment of advanced NSCLC. The researchers performed cell culture experiments using NSCLC cell lines and evaluated their response to pemetrexed by measuring the IC50 value. They also performed microarray analysis to identify potential biomarker genes that could predict the sensitivity to pemetrexed. Among the genes identified, SLIT2 was found to be a tumor suppression gene and was suggested to be a potential biomarker for predicting the long-term response to pemetrexed.

Additionally, the researchers evaluated the expression of SLIT2 in surgical samples from NSCLC patients who had a long-term response to pemetrexed using immunohistochemistry. They also examined the expression of other biomarker genes such as thymidylate synthesis (TS) and dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR). The immunohistochemistry results showed that SLIT2 had a moderately positive score in the samples, indicating its potential as a biomarker for pemetrexed response.

Furthermore, the researchers analyzed the response to pemetrexed in different NSCLC cell lines and found that some cell lines were responsive to the drug while others were not. They also identified other genes, such as Synovial sarcoma X3 (SSX3), that may be potential biomarkers for pemetrexed response.

Overall, the study suggests that SLIT2 may be a promising biomarker for predicting the long-term response to pemetrexed in NSCLC patients. Further research is needed to validate these findings and understand the underlying mechanisms of SLIT2 in pemetrexed response.
