Pdf Summary
This document discusses an ongoing study that aims to investigate provider perspectives on integrating a patient navigator into a tobacco treatment program at the Fox Chase Cancer Center. The study focuses on the acceptability and feasibility of the patient navigation intervention. The inclusion criteria for patients in the study include a cancer diagnosis, being an English speaker, being 18 years or older, and being an active tobacco cigarette user. The intervention cohort will receive standard initial consultation with a tobacco treatment provider, as well as two additional sessions with a tobacco treatment program navigator to assess patient progress and address quitting barriers. The study will also assess the impact of the patient navigator on clinic workflow. The goal is to increase tobacco cessation and improve long-term outcomes for cancer patients. Recruitment for the study is ongoing.
