Pdf Summary
This presentation at the WCLC 2023 conference discussed the differences in glucose and energy metabolism between lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC) and lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). The researchers used public scRNA-seq datasets to analyze the metabolic pathways in tumor cells. They found that the metabolic capacity of carbohydrates was higher in LUSC compared to LUAD, and pathways such as glycolysis, gluconeogenesis, citrate cycle, pentose phosphate pathway, and oxidative phosphorylation pathway were significantly more activated in LUSC. These pathways provide energy and raw materials for tumor cell proliferation and metastasis. The results were validated using RNA-seq data from other databases and showed a positive correlation between the activation of these pathways and tumor purity. Overall, the study revealed that the glucose and energy metabolism of tumor cells in LUSC patients are more active than in LUAD patients. The findings can help in understanding the heterogeneity of these two types of lung cancer and serve as a basis for future studies on energy metabolism and glucose metabolism in LUSC.
