Pdf Summary
This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of adjuvant chemotherapy in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who were rated as undernourished using the CONUT score. The study included 139 patients with stage II-IIIA NSCLC who underwent complete resections. The nutritional status of the patients was assessed using various nutritional scores.

The results showed that adjuvant chemotherapy was less effective in undernourished patients. Among patients rated as undernourished by the CONUT score, there was no difference in overall survival (OS) between those who received adjuvant chemotherapy and those who did not. Multivariate analysis confirmed that adjuvant chemotherapy was not an independent prognostic factor in undernourished patients according to the CONUT score.

Based on these findings, the CONUT score was determined to be a useful nutritional score for predicting the efficacy of adjuvant chemotherapy in lung cancer patients. This suggests that nutritional status should be taken into account when considering the use of adjuvant chemotherapy in NSCLC patients.

Overall, this study highlights the significance of considering nutritional status in the treatment of NSCLC patients. Adjuvant chemotherapy may be less effective in undernourished patients, and the CONUT score can help predict the response to this treatment.
