The 5-year survival rates were 13.2% for radiation, 16% for chemotherapy, and 24.9% for chemoradiation. Further analysis demonstrated that chemoradiation had a significant survival benefit over other treatments across all subgroups, including different age groups, genders, races, and comorbidity levels.<br /><br />The study also compared the outcomes of concurrent chemoradiation and sequential radiation and chemotherapy. The results showed that there was no significant difference in survival between the two approaches.<br /><br />Overall, the study concluded that chemoradiation is the optimal treatment option for patients with stage II NSCLC who are not candidates for surgery. It provided a survival advantage compared to radiation or chemotherapy alone, and the benefit was consistent across different patient subgroups.<br /><br />The findings of this study have important implications for clinical practice and treatment decision-making for stage II NSCLC patients who cannot undergo surgery. The results support the use of chemoradiation as the standard of care in these cases, offering improved survival outcomes.
