Pdf Summary
The study analyzed the utility of bronchus-first right upper lobectomy (BF-RUL) as a routine technique for patients with early-stage non-small cell lung cancer. BF-RUL involves dissecting the right upper bronchus first, followed by the pulmonary artery, vein, and interlobar fissure division. The data of 163 patients who underwent BF-RUL and 174 patients who underwent the conventional bronchus-last procedure (BL-RUL) were retrospectively analyzed. The results showed that BF-RUL resulted in a shorter operation time and less bleeding compared to BL-RUL. However, BF-RUL had a higher incomplete lobulation rate but did not affect postoperative complications, duration of chest drainage, and postoperative hospital stay. The study concluded that BF-RUL could be considered as an acceptable method regardless of interlobar fissure and could be established as a routine technique for right upper lobectomy in patients with early-stage non-small cell lung cancer.
