Pdf Summary
A study compared the long-term oncological outcomes of uniportal video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (U-VATS) versus multiportal video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (M-VATS) lobectomy for lung cancer patients. The study used data from a prospective, observational study conducted between 2017 and 2019. Disease-free survival (DFS), overall survival (OS), and lung cancer-specific OS were compared between the two surgical approaches. The results showed that patients who underwent U-VATS lobectomy had similar oncological outcomes to those who underwent M-VATS lobectomy. The DFS, OS, and lung cancer-specific OS were comparable between the two groups. The median follow-up period was 45 months. However, the study suggests that these findings need to be further validated in a multicenter randomized controlled study.
