Pdf Summary
OM-85 Broncho-Vaxom (BV) is a bacterial lysis product that has immunomodulatory effects. In this study, the researchers investigated the effects and mechanisms of OM-85 BV on early-stage lung adenocarcinoma. They established mouse models that closely resembled human lung nodules and adenocarcinoma. The mice were divided into three groups: a benign nodule control group, an early-stage lung adenocarcinoma control group, and an OM-85 BV intervention group. The researchers analyzed the immune microenvironment by observing tumor growth, histopathology, immunofluorescence, and distribution of immune cells using single-cell sequencing and spatial transcriptometechniques. They also performed multiple immunofluorescence analyses in a clinical cohort.

The results showed that tumor growth and levels of immune cells and factors in the OM-85 BV intervention group were similar to those in the benign nodule control group, but higher than in the early lung adenocarcinoma control group. This suggests that OM-85 BV may inhibit the progression of early lung adenocarcinoma by regulating the number and activity of T cells, NK cells, and macrophages.

In conclusion, OM-85 BV could be a low-cost alternative for inhibiting the progression of early-stage lung adenocarcinoma through simple oral administration.
