Pdf Summary
This study aimed to compare the standard of care, treatment options, and survival outcomes of Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) patients between two institutions: Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Israel and Riga East University Hospital in Latvia. A retrospective analysis was conducted on a cohort of NSCLC patients diagnosed between 2017 and 2020. The study found that there were differences in the demographic and treatment characteristics between Latvian and Israeli patients, including sex and histological type of the diagnosis. Additionally, there were significant differences in the types of therapies received by patients in both countries.

The survival rates of NSCLC patients also significantly differed between Latvia and Israel. One-year survival rates were more than 90% for Israeli patients, regardless of the stage of cancer. In Latvia, only 40% of Stage III and 23% of Stage IV patients survived for one year.

The study concluded that there are disparities in treatment options and outcomes for NSCLC patients between Latvia and Israel. This highlights the need for further research to understand the impact of these disparities on patient outcomes and ensure that all patients have access to the most appropriate and effective treatments.
