Pdf Summary
This case study highlights the successful treatment of a patient with brain metastases from lung cancer and epilepsy using aumolertinib. Lung cancer patients with brain metastases have limited survival benefits with existing treatments such as surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy. However, treating patients with brain metastases and epilepsy, especially those with poor physical condition, poses a challenge.

The patient in this case was a 69-year-old male with an ECOG score of 4, experiencing symptoms such as headache, blurred vision, nausea, vomiting, and epileptic seizures. The patient had a diagnosis of right lung cancer (stage IV) with brain metastasis, pleural effusion, and an EGFR 19Del mutation. The treatment regimen included aumolertinib for anti-tumor therapy, intracranial pressure reduction, cardiac function improvement, epilepsy control, nutritional support therapy, and pleural effusion drainage.

After three days of treatment, the patient regained consciousness with no further seizures. Two weeks later, imaging showed a positive response, with the ECOG score dropping from 4 to 1. The patient achieved a progression-free survival of over 20 months without significant adverse effects.

This case report is significant because it demonstrates the effectiveness and tolerability of aumolertinib in a patient with lung cancer brain metastases, epilepsy, and poor physical condition. This is the first report of a successful application of aumolertinib in this specific patient population, indicating its potential as a fast and effective therapeutic option.

In conclusion, aumolertinib showed remarkable curative effects and good tolerance in treating a lung cancer patient with brain metastases, epilepsy, and an EGFR mutation. This case highlights the therapeutic potential of aumolertinib in this challenging patient population.
