Pdf Summary
This study focuses on pulmonary artery sarcomas (PAS), a rare disease with limited data and treatment options. The aim of this international multicenter study is to better understand the pathophysiology and management of PAS. The study collects retrospective data from sarcoma patients treated at participating institutions between 1994 and 2022. Currently, there are 29 registered cases from two institutions in the study's database.

Of these cases, 22 are diagnosed with intimal sarcoma of the pulmonary artery, while 7 have other types of sarcomas. Treatment for PAS includes tumor resection and adjuvant chemo-/radiotherapy. The median overall survival for patients undergoing any kind of surgery followed by adjuvant therapy is 28 months, compared to 15 months for patients without adjuvant therapy.

The study aims to identify potential prognostic parameters by screening tissue and blood samples for specific biomarkers and correlating them with clinical outcomes. The collected data will be used for diagnostic and prognostic purposes in routine clinical practice.

The study emphasizes the importance of understanding PAS through biomarker and multi-omic analysis of tumor tissue. This analysis will help characterize the disease and identify biomarkers for future research. The international collaboration involved in this study will contribute to the pooling of data and identification of the best treatment allocation for this rare disease.
