Pdf Summary
In this study, the authors evaluated the safety and treatment toxicities of lung stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) in a developing country. They retrospectively analyzed data from patients who received SBRT over a period of 30 months. The clinical profiles and dosimetrics parameters were assessed, and adverse effects questionnaires were placed on each patient. Individual calls were made to understand their post-radiotherapy differences.

A total of 27 individuals received pulmonary SBRT, with a mean age of 64 years. The majority of patients were women and non-smokers. Out of the 27 patients, 12 (44.5%) experienced adverse effects after the treatment. However, no grade 5 CTAEs (common terminology criteria for adverse events) were seen. The minimum total dose administered was 800cGy in a single dose per day, and the maximum total dose was 6000cGy within 8 days of treatment.

Based on their findings, the authors concluded that SBRT in a developing country is a feasible and safe option for selected patients. They emphasized the importance of following standard guidelines for contouring and dosimetrics patterns in treatment. Additionally, they highlighted the necessity of a well-trained team to select, plan, and follow up with these patients.

In summary, this study examined the safety and treatment toxicities of lung SBRT in a developing country. It found that SBRT was feasible and safe for selected patients. However, further research and adherence to standard guidelines are needed to optimize treatment outcomes in this setting.
