Pdf Summary
This abstract provides an overview of a study that aimed to determine the membranous expression of cMET in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and RET fusions. RET fusions are found in a small percentage of patients with aNSCLC and RET inhibitors are effective but resistance eventually occurs. Antibody-drug conjugates (ADC) are seen as promising treatments for aNSCLC and cMET is an emerging target in this setting. However, there is a lack of specific data on cMET overexpression in RET aNSCLC.

The study collected tissue specimens from 37 patients with RET aNSCLC treated in three European centers. The expression of cMET on the cell membrane was assessed using immunohistochemistry. The study found that cMET was frequently expressed on the membrane in RET aNSCLC, suggesting that it could be explored as a target for novel treatment strategies. However, the expression of cMET did not seem to correlate with biological features or response to RET inhibitors.

The results of the study indicate that there is potential for cMET as a therapeutic target in RET aNSCLC, but further exploration is needed. The findings also highlight the need for more research on the relationship between cMET expression and response to targeted therapies. This abstract provides important information for researchers and clinicians interested in better understanding the role of genetic biomarkers, specifically cMET expression, in the management of advanced NSCLC with RET fusions.
