Pdf Summary
This study analyzed the outcomes of patients with advanced EGFR mutated lung adenocarcinoma treated with TKI therapy. The researchers retrospectively analyzed data from 333 patients at a Mexican institution. They found that patients with tumors containing solid patterns had worse outcomes compared to those with non-solid patterns. The median progression-free survival (PFS) was 10 months for patients with solid patterns, compared to 17 months for those with non-solid patterns. Similarly, the median overall survival (OS) was 20.9 months for patients with solid patterns, compared to 29.3 months for those with non-solid patterns. In the univariate analysis, the presence of the EGFR mutation type L858R and tumors with solid patterns were associated with a higher risk of death. This association remained significant in the multivariable analysis. The study concludes that high-grade histological patterns, specifically the solid pattern, are associated with worse outcomes in advanced EGFR mutated non-small cell lung cancer treated with TKI therapy.

Keywords: EGFR, solid-patterns, TKI
