Pdf Summary
This study analyzed data from patients with non-metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) from Canada, England, Germany, and Sweden. The findings showed that most conclusions were consistent across the different data sources, but there were some differences in disease stage at diagnosis and the proportion of resected and unresected patients among those with stage III disease. These differences may be due to variations in the study periods and the staging editions used.

The study found that treatment patterns generally aligned with European and North American lung cancer guidelines during the respective study periods. Survival estimates decreased as the stage of the disease increased, underscoring the need for improved therapeutic approaches, particularly in patients with stage II or III NSCLC.

The data from this study will serve as an important baseline for future evaluation of the real-world impact of emerging immunotherapy-based and targeted treatment options for patients with non-metastatic NSCLC.

The limitations of the study include the lack of information on planned treatment, the small number of patients in certain treatment categories, the potential for misclassification of treatment categories, and the differences in diagnosis and follow-up periods between the data sources. The study period also overlapped with the COVID-19 pandemic, which may have affected treatment schedules.

Overall, this study provides valuable insights into the management and outcomes of non-metastatic NSCLC in real-world clinical practice across multiple countries.
