Pdf Summary
This study aimed to investigate the changes in physical activity, fatigue, and six-minute walk distance (6MWD) among lung cancer patients before and after chemotherapy. A total of 102 patients were assessed before chemotherapy and three months later. The study found that the average fatigue increased after chemotherapy. In particular, subgroup D, which consisted of patients who had received multiple treatments without chemotherapy, showed significant reductions in physical activity and 6MWD, indicating lower physical activity levels and worse walking performance compared to subgroup A, which consisted of patients who were newly diagnosed without any treatment.

Self-efficacy was identified as a significant factor that influenced physical activity level, fatigue interference, and 6MWD. The study also found correlations between physical activity, fatigue, and 6MWD. After three months, there was a moderately negative correlation between physical activity and fatigue, and a higher negative correlation between fatigue and 6MWD.

The study concluded that chemotherapy has a significant impact on physical activity, fatigue, and functional capacity in patients with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer. Self-efficacy was identified as a key factor that can help patients improve their physical activity, fatigue, and 6MWD. The findings suggest that healthcare providers should consider implementing physical activity interventions that incorporate self-efficacy strategies to help patients maintain better physical activity levels during chemotherapy.

Overall, this study highlights the importance of assessing and addressing physical activity, fatigue, and walking capacity in lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, and suggests the potential benefits of self-efficacy interventions in improving these outcomes.
