Pdf Summary
In this study conducted by the Society for Healthcare and Prevention in India, the authors aimed to assess the knowledge, perception, and attitudes of nurses working in a Cancer-NGO setting towards the nursing care of lung cancer patients. The study utilized questionnaires to gather information about the respondents and to elicit the nurses' knowledge, perception, and attitudes towards caring for cancer patients. The impact of nurses' counseling on the quality of life (QOL) of lung cancer patients was also examined.

All the questionnaires were returned and analyzed using simple statistical methods. The study also included the development of a framework for orientation and continuing medical education (CME) that would help nurses transition from novices to experts in providing nursing care for lung cancer patients.

The conclusion drawn from the study is that although oncology nursing is an important specialty, it tends to be neglected. Resources for training nurses in this field are scarce. However, trained nurses have the potential to improve the quality of life of cancer patients. The presentation accompanying this study will visually depict the role of cancer nurses, the impact they have on patient quality of life, and the education required for competent nursing care of lung cancer patients.

In summary, this study highlights the importance of oncology nursing and the lack of resources for training nurses in this field. It emphasizes the role of nurses in counseling and their impact on patient outcomes. The presentation aims to provide a visual depiction of the role of cancer nurses, their impact on patient quality of life, and the education necessary for competent nursing care of lung cancer patients.
