This report presents the real-world first-round results from a charity lung cancer screening program conducted in East Asia, specifically using Low Dose Computed Tomography (LDCT) among individuals with a family history of lung cancer and/or a history of smoking. The study emphasizes that individuals with a family history of lung cancer might significantly benefit from screening programs, suggesting the need for further clarification on how LDCT-detected features should prompt additional interventions.<br /><br />The presence of lesions categorized as Lung-RADS 3 or higher, or those deemed suspicious by experienced specialists, significantly increased the likelihood of a lung cancer diagnosis. The charity program not only brought about these findings but was also partly sponsored by Medtronic Hong Kong Medical Ltd.<br /><br />In conclusion, the data suggests that community-level LDCT screening programs could effectively detect early and potentially curable lung cancer, particularly among individuals with a family history of lung cancer. This insight can help shape future screening strategies in East Asia, enhancing early detection and potentially improving lung cancer outcomes.
