Using data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database, which included 16,175 patients, the study analyzed trends over four five-year intervals: 2000-2004, 2005-2009, 2010-2014, and 2015-2019.<br /><br />The study employed the Cox proportional hazards model to estimate hazard ratios for different periods and treatments, adjusting for potential confounders. The results highlighted a significant improvement in survival rates over the decades. Notably, from 2005-2009, there was a 5% reduction in the risk of death, and from 2015-2019, a 17.4% improvement was observed, underscoring the enhanced effectiveness of treatments introduced during this period.<br /><br />Chemotherapy emerged as a critical factor, contributing to a 21.3% improvement in survival outcomes, with a hazard ratio of 0.79, indicating its efficacy in LCC management. Conversely, patients who declined radiation therapy faced a 47% increased risk of mortality.<br /><br />The study concludes with evidence of progressive advancements in survival outcomes for LCC patients over the last two decades, highlighting particularly significant improvements post-2015. Despite some limitations like data censoring and missing information on disease staging, these findings underscore the importance of adhering to recommended treatment protocols to improve patient survival.
