The study's goals include evaluating overall survival, disease-free survival, allograft rejection, and survival while monitoring molecular and genetic biomarkers.<br /><br />The trial, with a 10-year duration and a 5-year recruitment period, aims to enroll 125 participants through Northwestern Medicine Clinical Programs. It involves non-sequential double lung transplantation using a full cardiopulmonary bypass technique to reduce intraoperative cancer cell seeding. The study could provide insights into the feasibility and benefits of lung transplantation for selected cancer patients, similar to liver transplantation for patients with liver-confined metastases.
