Pdf Summary
GO2 for Lung Cancer has developed a comprehensive framework to tackle lung cancer health disparities among marginalized communities. Despite advancements in screening and treatment, these communities continue to face higher risks and barriers due to socio-structural challenges, necessitating a holistic approach comprising internal and external analyses.

The initiative involved qualitative interviews and literature reviews to grasp the current state of health disparities. Priority populations identified include African American/Black, Hispanic/Latinx, Asian American and Pacific Islander, American Indian and Alaskan Native, those with low income, residing in rural areas, as well as LGBTQIA individuals, military personnel, and issues related to sex and gender.

A structured three-stage process was created for advancing health equity, focusing on learning and understanding, strategy development, and implementation. An Impact-Feasibility Matrix was used to prioritize actionable initiatives, guiding resource allocation effectively.

The framework emphasizes several critical steps for organizations aiming to address health disparities:
1. Aligning team members with challenges and needs associated with lung cancer.
2. Conducting diagnostics to identify gaps, guiding immediate intervention efforts.
3. Developing clear strategies and priorities ensuring direction towards impactful activities.
4. Establishing metrics for progress, with regular reviews to maintain accountability.

Furthermore, the departments focused on policy, advocacy, research, patient support, and healthcare delivery have set specific goals and objectives, accompanied by developed metrics and quarterly follow-ups to measure success.

The ongoing evaluation of this framework aims to refine strategies and improve treatment outcomes in priority areas, addressing challenges and facilitators related to care access. This initiative by GO2 for Lung Cancer could serve as a model for other disciplines aiming to address health equity issues.
