Pdf Summary
The study evaluates the efficacy and safety of immunotherapy in managing advanced lung cancer through an internet-based platform called 'Wedoc'. This platform facilitates outpatient management, enabling physicians to develop treatment plans, communicate with patients, and receive symptom and test reports remotely, allowing them to offer timely medical guidance. Conducted across 35 hospitals nationwide, the study focused on lung cancer patients receiving PD-1/L1 inhibitor immunotherapy, assessing the platform's impact on treatment efficacy and the adverse reaction profile.

The retrospective cohort study involved 1,110 patients, predominantly male (86.3%), with the majority in Stage IV lung cancer (57.7%). The platform's use allowed rapid detection and management of adverse events related to immunotherapy and highlighted the importance of physician-patient communication. Frequent physician-initiated dialogues were significantly correlated with improved short-term efficacy, as measured by the objective response rate (ORR) and disease control rate (DCR).

Key findings indicated an ORR of 64.7% and a DCR of 93.3%, with adverse event rates of 52.8% for all events and 35.9% for grade 3 events. The study underscores the potential benefits of internet-based management in monitoring immunotherapy and influencing treatment outcomes positively.

These findings suggest that online platforms like Wedoc can enhance patient management by improving communication and allowing timely intervention, thus potentially leading to better management of immunotherapy in lung cancer patients. Acknowledgements are given to the participating research units and individuals who supported data collection and analysis. The study suggests an innovative approach to healthcare that could improve long-term cancer treatment outcomes through enhanced communication and monitoring.
