Pdf Summary
The study compares two lung cancer screening strategies: Low-Dose Computed Tomography (LDCT) alone (Strategy A) versus a combination of Blood Genomic Testing (BGT) followed by LDCT (Strategies B1 and B2).

**Key Findings:**
- **Strategy A (LDCT Only)**: Out of 1,000 LDCTs, 7 lung cancers and 153 non-actionable findings (NAFs) were identified, indicating a high occurrence of false positives (NNS143, NAF:LC22).
- **Strategy B1 (BGT followed by LDCT for positive results)**: Among 1,250 BGTs, only 525 LDCTs were necessary, detecting 7 lung cancers and 77 NAFs, demonstrating improved efficiency (NNS76, NAF:LC11).
- **Strategy B2 (BGT matched for an equal number of LDCTs as Strategy A)**: Of 2,381 BGTs resulting in 1,000 LDCTs, 13 lung cancers and 147 NAFs were identified, showing BGT with equal LDCTs detecting more cancers (NNS76, NAF:LC11).

A BGT-First strategy has the potential to enhance screening efficiency by identifying 1.9 times more cancers and reducing false positives by half compared to an LDCT-only approach. This method decreases the load of NAFs per cancer detected, screening 2.4 times more individuals. The BGT-First approach can improve false positive to true positive rates, optimizing the use of LDCT and lessening the strain on healthcare systems. By incorporating BGT at the point of care before LDCT, the strategies are projected to improve lung cancer screening outcomes with similar cancer detection but better manage non-cancer findings.

The study concludes that incorporating BGT can lead to more effective lung cancer screening, enhancing detection capabilities while reducing unnecessary further diagnostic procedures.
