Patients were divided into STAS absent and present groups, and the PET/CT parameters were compared using statistical tests.<br /><br />Results showed that 82.4% of tumors were FDG avid, and differences in SUVmax and SUVmean values were statistically significant between STAS positive and negative cases, with higher values associated with STAS presence. In contrast, MTV and TLG did not show significant differences. The SUVmax, in particular, demonstrated notable diagnostic performance, suggesting it could help predict STAS and guide the type of resection required. Hence, the study concludes that preoperative 18F FDG-PET/CT, and especially SUVmax and SUVmean, may be useful in predicting STAS in stage I lung cancer patients to optimize surgical strategies.
