Survival rates over three years (3YS) and hazard ratios (HR) were analyzed using statistical software.<br /><br />Key findings include:<br />- Surgery alone led to 1-year survival (1-YS) improvement, from 32.8% (no treatment) to 44.2% (p=0.040), although there was no significant survival benefit at 2 years (2-YS) or 3 years (3-YS).<br />- Chemotherapy alone did not significantly impact 1-YS, 2-YS, or 3-YS.<br />- Combined chemotherapy and surgery improved 1-YS to 40.9% (p=0.001) but offered no significant survival advantage at 3 years.<br /><br />The study concludes that while surgery can improve survival at one year for stage III NEM patients, this benefit diminishes by the second and third year, regardless of additional chemotherapy. This highlights the aggressive nature of NEM and suggests that more effective treatment strategies are needed for long-term survival benefits.
