Pdf Summary
The Global Lung Cancer Coalition (GLCC) emphasizes the right of lung cancer patients to receive dignified, respectful treatment and access to quality healthcare, which includes informed self-determination. Recognizing the importance of patients' experiences with seeking and receiving information, a global survey aimed to understand patients' preferences for obtaining information from their treatment teams.

Results from the 2024 GLCC-sponsored survey, conducted from March 28 to April 18, involved 905 respondents from 18 countries, predominantly male (78%), and mostly aged 55 (49%). The survey revealed that 72% of patients felt they received the right information at the right time, marking an improvement from 2023's 58%, yet nearly 30% of patients still reported deficiencies in timely information reception.

Patients expressed varying preferences for receiving information: 33% favored cancer support hotlines, 29% opted for print materials, and 14% preferred apps. Other formats included infographics (9%), websites (5%), videos (7%), and audio materials (2%). Notably, a small number indicated no preference or other means.

Conclusively, the provision of patient information should be customized to improve patient-provider interactions and emphasize patient-centric care. Future research is suggested to explore why some patients do not receive the necessary information timely and to investigate the relationship between preferred information delivery methods and their actual outcomes.

The findings, aiming to guide enhancements in care delivery, spotlight the need for continued improvement in how information is communicated to patients, underscoring a significant aspect of quality lung cancer care. All detailed country-level findings will be available on the GLCC website for further insights.
