The ROSETTA-LUNG project aims to standardize multidisciplinary team (MDT) assessments for lung cancer diagnosis and treatment to improve global treatment equity, harmonization, and adherence to guidelines. It was presented at the World Conference on Lung Cancer 2024, backed by AstraZeneca, and developed with input from seven global lung cancer experts.<br /><br />ROSETTA-LUNG is a digital platform with two core functions: case reviews and MDT consensus building. It involves fictional case analyses where MDTs evaluate diagnosis and treatment strategies, allowing comparison of their decisions with those from other teams. The project identifies inconsistencies in decision-making and promotes better alignment with guidelines.<br /><br />The platform includes various user accounts—MDT, single healthcare professional (HCP), and trainee HCP—for diverse usage and feedback aggregation. Through standardized reviews of 60 fictional lung cancer cases, it aims to quantify treatment concordance among MDTs worldwide. It also acts as an educational tool to improve decision-making and serve as a reference for HCPs and trainees.<br /><br />Initial testing by a Steering Committee comprised of experts from countries like India, Germany, and the U.S. revealed significant agreement in deciding treatment objectives (83–100%) but less consensus on specific treatment approaches (40–100%), reflecting local discrepancies in guidance or methodologies.<br /><br />Overall, ROSETTA-LUNG offers a cloud-based solution to compare and enhance MDT decision-making, aiming to address the identified intra- and inter-regional variations in lung cancer treatment strategies and staging, ultimately striving for improved patient care outcomes globally.
