VIKTOR (Virtual International Knowledgebase for Thoracic Oncology Research) is an innovative bioinformatics platform that converges knowledge from preclinical cancer models including cell lines with the needs of individual researchers in thoracic oncology.
Preclinical models are crucial to advance the treatment of thoracic cancers, but essential information is scattered across multiple databases. VIKTOR provides a solution by creating a centralized digital ecosystem where information from various knowledgebases is accessed and redistributed based on the specific query of the researcher.
VIKTOR integrates multiple data sources including Cellosaurus, NeXtProt, PharmacoDB, and Human Protein Atlas (HPA). The intuitive and interactive web-interface of VIKTOR, soon supported by AI-powered semantic search capabilities, facilitates the work of the researchers addressing various challenges in thoracic oncology, including drug resistance mechanisms, developing targeted therapies, and exploring combination strategies.
As a catalyst for the IASLC thoracic oncology community's research priorities, VIKTOR supports individual researchers in their mission to advance patient care through scientific discovery.
The VIKTOR resource is a project of the Basic and Translational Science Committee of the IASLC.
