The IASLC Atlas of ALK and ROS1 Testing in Lung Cancer is a resource designed to help pathologists, laboratory scientists, and practicing physicians better understand the background, protocol, and interpretation of results of ALK and ROS1 testing for patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer. ALK and ROS1 gene rearrangements occur in approximately 4% and 2% of lung adenocarcinoma, respectively. Although the frequency of these genomic aberrations is low, their diagnosis offers patients with lung cancer the opportunity to receive highly effective targeted therapies. The story of ALK and ROS1 reflects the current exciting state in lung cancer research.
