This study aimed to establish the correlation between gender, history of smoking, age, and body mass index (BMI) with histopathological types of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The data were obtained from medical records of NSCLC patients who underwent chemotherapy at a hospital in Lampung, Indonesia, from 2018 to 2021. A total of 106 samples were analyzed using various statistical tests.<br /><br />The results showed that the majority of the patients were aged 50 years or older, male, had a lower BMI, and had a history of smoking. The most prevalent histopathological type was adenocarcinoma. The bivariate analysis indicated that gender and history of smoking were significantly correlated with histopathological types, while age and BMI did not show significant correlation.<br /><br />The multivariate analysis revealed that gender was the most influential risk factor, with males having a higher risk of developing certain histopathological types of NSCLC. Other risk factors such as age and BMI did not have a significant impact on the histopathological types.<br /><br />In conclusion, this study found a significant correlation between gender and history of smoking with histopathological types in NSCLC patients. However, age and BMI did not show a significant correlation. These findings suggest that gender and smoking history may play a role in determining the histopathological types of NSCLC. Further research is needed to better understand the relationship between these risk factors and lung cancer.
