Pdf Summary
In this study, the authors analyzed the prognosis of invasive non-mucinous adenocarcinoma in lung cancer patients based on a new grading system proposed in the 5th edition of the WHO classification. They included 257 patients who underwent complete surgical resection at Osaki Citizen Hospital between January 2017 and December 2021. The patients were classified into three grades: G1, G2, and G3.

They found that as the grading increased, the pathological stage also progressed. The G3 group was significantly associated with a lower incidence of EGFR mutations and a higher incidence of PD-L1 expression. The authors also evaluated the recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) of the three groups. Although the three groups were clearly stratified in terms of RFS, there was no significant association between the grading and OS.

The authors concluded that the G3 group showed significant differences in the status of EGFR mutation and the expression of PD-L1, suggesting the possibility of having distinct oncological properties. However, the grade classification could not be considered an independent prognostic factor in this study.

In summary, this study investigated the prognosis of invasive non-mucinous adenocarcinoma based on a new grading system. The results showed that higher grade was associated with advanced pathological stages and different molecular characteristics. However, the grade classification did not independently predict prognosis.
