EP06.03. Implementing Next Generation Sequencing for Lung Cancer Patients in Mexico: A Real-World Study from Puebla - PDF(Slides)

This study focuses on the implementation of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) for lung cancer patients in Mexico. While there are several drugs approved by the FDA for lung cancer treatment, there is limited information on their implementation and findings in Mexico. Therefore, the study aims to provide real-world information from a center in Puebla, Mexico.<br /><br />The researchers collected clinical and genomic data from lung cancer patients who underwent NGS at an oncological center in Puebla. They analyzed the progression-free survival using the Kaplan-Meier analysis and examined the correlation between histological subtypes and genomic findings.<br /><br />The results showed that NGS recommended an FDA-approved drug or clinical trial for 85.71% of the cases. Patients who only had conventional treatments available had the worst progression-free survival. This suggests that NGS may guide therapeutic decisions and potentially improve patient outcomes.<br /><br />The study concludes that further research with larger sample sizes is necessary to validate these findings and expand the understanding of the genomic landscape of lung cancer in Mexico.<br /><br />Overall, this study demonstrates the potential of implementing NGS in Mexico for the treatment of lung cancer patients. It highlights the importance of personalized medicine and the need for more research in this area to improve patient outcomes.
