Pdf Summary
This study aimed to explore the molecular characteristics of lung signet ring cell carcinoma (LSRCC) in the Chinese population and its relationship to clinical characteristics. LSRCC is a highly malignant and poorly differentiated cancer with strong invasion and metastasis capabilities, leading to a poor prognosis. The early symptoms of LSRCC are often not obvious, resulting in late-stage diagnosis and limited treatment options. The researchers collected FFPE slides from LSRCC patients at a hospital in Hangzhou and conducted various analyses, including whole-exome sequencing, RNA sequencing, and TIME-PRO analysis. They identified single nucleotide variations (SNVs), copy number variations (CNVs), and differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in LSRCC samples. The study revealed that MUC family genes (MUC4, MUC17, MUC6, and MUC3A) were among the most mutated genes in LSRCC, while TP53 mutation was not as prevalent. Missense mutations and C-T base substitutions were the most common SNV types. The researchers also found an enrichment of the cell cycle signaling pathway in LSRCC. They observed a significant increase in the percentages of CD8 T cells and CD68CD163 cells in LSRCC compared to normal tissue. Overall, this study provided a comprehensive multiomics profiling of LSRCC in the Chinese population, offering insights into the genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic landscape of this cancer. Understanding the unique molecular features of LSRCC in the Chinese population could help in elucidating the underlying regulatory mechanisms and improving clinical treatment decisions for LSRCC patients.
