Pdf Summary
This research focused on comparing two dyes, methylene blue and indocyanine green (ICG), for preoperative localization of pulmonary nodules under the guidance of electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy (ENB). The study, conducted at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, included 101 patients with 118 high-risk nodules requiring surgical resection. Both dyes were found to visualize all nodules with no serious complications associated with ENB. The overall consistency of intraoperative freezing and postoperative paraffin results was 91.8%. However, the ICG group showed a significant advantage over the methylene blue group by shortening the time from the beginning of the operation to sample freezing detection by an average of 22.6 minutes. The study concludes that pulmonary nodule resection under the guidance of ENB with staining localization is a safe, accurate, and feasible minimally invasive surgery. Both methylene blue and ICG can aid in dye marking for thoracoscopic resection of pulmonary nodules, but ICG offers the additional benefit of reducing operation time.
