Pdf Summary
A study conducted in Latvia and Israel compared the treatment approaches and outcomes for patients with Stage III and IV Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC). The data was collected from patient records of 42 Israeli and 100 Latvian patients with Stage III NSCLC, as well as 44 Israeli and 100 Latvian patients with Stage IV NSCLC, all diagnosed between 2017 and 2020. The study aimed to evaluate the standard of care and treatment options between the two countries.

The results showed that Latvian patients with Stages III and IV NSCLC had a significantly higher risk of death compared to Israeli patients. The increased risk in the Latvian patients was attributed to limited access to targeted therapy and advanced treatment options. However, surgical intervention was found to decrease the risk of death in Stage III NSCLC patients, and immunotherapy was associated with decreased risk in Stage IV NSCLC patients.

The study highlights the disparities in treatment options and outcomes for NSCLC patients between Latvia and Israel. It emphasizes the need for further research to understand the impact of these disparities on patient outcomes and to ensure that all patients have access to the most appropriate and effective treatments.
