This study analyzed the results of surgical treatment in patients with oligometastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The records of 1739 patients who underwent NSCLC anatomical lung resection between 1996 and 2022 were examined, and 71 patients were found to have oligometastatic disease. A multidisciplinary approach was applied in the treatment of these patients. The majority of patients were male, with the average age of 59.72. Adenocarcinoma was the most common cell subtype (53.5%), followed by squamous cell carcinoma (32.4%). The most common sites of metastasis were the brain, adrenal glands, and lung. Chemotherapy and chemoradiotherapy were given to some patients. The surgical procedures performed included segmentectomy, lobectomy, and pneumonectomy. The average hospital stay was 6.9 days. There were morbidities in 33.8% of patients and one mortality. The median survival was 21 months, and the 5-year survival rate for all patients was 30.9%. When considering specific metastatic organs, 5-year survival rates were 31.1% for brain metastasis, 34% for adrenal metastasis, and 45.6% for lung metastasis. The study concludes that lung resection can have a positive impact on the outcomes of selected patients with oligometastatic NSCLC when managed by an experienced multidisciplinary center. However, larger case studies are needed to determine the most effective treatment approach for specific organs.
