Pdf Summary
A retrospective study was conducted to evaluate the clinical outcomes of advanced lung cancer patients who received immunotherapy-containing treatment with or without radiation therapy. The study included 72 patients who were treated with immunotherapy or chemo-immunotherapy as their first-line treatment. The median follow-up was 11.15 months.

The study found that 54.17% of patients reached progression-free survival (PFS) endpoints and 26.39% reached overall survival (OS) endpoints. The median PFS was 10.61 months and the median OS was 13.18 months.

The patients were divided into two groups: the radiation before resistance (RBR) group and the non-radiation before resistance (NRBR) group. The RBR group consisted of 26 patients who received radiation therapy mainly targeting lung lesions, lymph nodes, bone, or brain. The NRBR group included the remaining 46 patients.

The median duration of immunotherapy (DoT) was 10.54 months in the RBR group and 8.44 months in the NRBR group. The study found that 46.15% of patients in the RBR group experienced disease progression or death, compared to 60.87% in the NRBR group. The median PFS was 13.60 months in the RBR group and 10.33 months in the NRBR group.

The median OS was higher in the RBR group (18.64 months) compared to the NRBR group (13.84 months), although the difference was not statistically significant. Only two patients in the NRBR group experienced grade 3 side effects.

The study concludes that the addition of radiation therapy to immunotherapy-containing treatment for advanced lung cancer patients may extend the duration of immunotherapy and potentially lead to longer PFS and OS.
