However, in the multivariate analysis, percent predicted FVC less than 80% was the only independent poor prognostic factor for OS, while pathologic stage had a lesser significance.<br /><br />The study concludes that FVC is a strong predictor of postoperative survival in patients with MPM, regardless of imaging findings. It suggests that FVC can be used to assess tumor invasion and aid in determining the surgical indication for these patients.<br /><br />The study highlights the importance of using FVC as an objective index for assessing the degree of tumor progression and guiding treatment decisions in patients with MPM. It provides valuable insights for clinicians in predicting postoperative survival and optimizing patient outcomes.
