Pdf Summary
The Global Lung Cancer Patient Council (GLCPC) and Roche have created resources to support people living with lung cancer, their families, and healthcare providers (HCPs) in addressing mental health issues arising from a lung cancer diagnosis. The resources include two brochures: one for people living with lung cancer and their families, and another for HCPs. The brochures cover topics such as additional support, self-care and coping mechanisms, and a glossary of lung cancer terms to facilitate discussions between patients and HCPs.

The development of the brochures involved a multidisciplinary team approach and input from patient advocates, patients, and caregivers from around the world. The brochures have been released under a Creative Commons license, allowing for free access, distribution, translation, and adaptation with proper acknowledgment. Plans are underway to translate the brochures into multiple languages.

The brochures aim to provide support and education on mental health issues related to lung cancer, reduce psychological distress, and improve the quality of life for people living with lung cancer. They address the lack of resources in this area and provide guidance for discussing mental health with patients, promoting good mental health, and accessing additional mental health support services.

The development of these resources is based on evidence showing the negative impact of lung cancer on mental health and the effectiveness of mental health support in improving outcomes for lung cancer patients. The resources have undergone medical review and have been reviewed by healthcare providers. Dissemination strategies include the development of an editable toolkit and social media communication plan to support the launch of the brochures in different countries.

Overall, the resources aim to fill a gap in mental health support for people living with lung cancer and provide valuable information and guidance for patients, families, and healthcare providers.
