Pdf Summary
The presentation discusses the development of the Lung Cancer Information System (LCIS), a digital platform aimed at enabling precision oncology through informatics. The LCIS is designed to integrate structured clinical data, molecular diagnostics, and imaging information, providing opportunities to advance precision oncology. The system is being developed by the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University in collaboration with Cancer Informatics for Cancer Centers.

In the initial phase of the project, the LCIS has been developed as a cloud-based data ecosystem, utilizing secure and scalable technology provided by DNAnexus Apollo. The system aggregates multiple data types, starting with genomic, electronic medical records (EMR), and pathology imaging data. It also aims to adhere to the national "Minimal Oncology Data Elements" CodeX program.

The LCIS includes a wide selection of bioinformatics tools and allows users to apply custom analysis pipelines on the data. It provides graphically rich interfaces for building cohorts based on various data parameters, offering multi-dimensional views of patient-level data. The platform also supports the building and deployment of artificial intelligence and machine learning models.

The goal of the LCIS is to help lung cancer researchers identify clinical and multi-omic variables that require further investigation and drive impactful research to improve patient outcomes. It aims to facilitate research collaborations both internally and externally.

Overall, the Lung Cancer Information System represents a significant step towards leveraging digital solutions and informatics to enhance precision oncology approaches in lung cancer care and research.
