Pdf Summary
This study investigates the concordance on treatment recommendations from multidisciplinary tumor boards (MTB) in patients with driver-mutated lung cancer. The aim is to determine the frequency of different degrees of concordance (full, partial, non-concordance), differences in concordance in driver-mutated patients, and the overall survival associated with different degrees of concordance.

Data from 622 lung cancer patients discussed in tumor boards at a certified lung cancer center in Northern Germany were analyzed. Out of these patients, 12% (75/644) had a driver mutation. The overall concordance rate was found to be 85%, with 9% showing partial concordance and 6% showing non-concordance.

When comparing driver-mutated patients to the overall cohort, it was found that patients with a driver mutation had a higher concordance rate of 91%. Patients with a complete concordance to the tumor board recommendation had an overall survival of 17 months, compared to 5 months for patients with partial concordance and 4 months for patients with discordant treatment.

The study concludes that patients with concordant treatment have a significantly longer overall survival compared to those with discordant treatment. The concordance rate is higher in driver-mutated patients, and those with a driver mutation and concordant treatment have a longer overall survival compared to patients without a driver mutation.

The authors suggest that assessing concordance to MTB recommendations could be a meaningful quality criterion for cancer centers in Germany. This research highlights the importance of multidisciplinary tumor boards in developing the best possible treatment plans for lung cancer patients.
