EP17.04. Research and Analysis on the Situation of Prevention and Treatment Capability of Cancer in County of China - PDF(Abstract)

This research paper presents a study on the prevention and treatment capabilities of cancer in counties in China. The study was conducted in Sichuan Province and included 183 districts and counties. The research aimed to provide data support for future health decisions.<br /><br />The results of the study showed that out of the 183 counties, 65 had a population of over 500 thousand, and 69 counties (37.7%) had oncology specialties. The average number of radiotherapy equipment per district was 0.37. Tertiary hospitals accounted for 84.9%, and public hospitals accounted for 90.7%. The study also examined the accessibility of various cancer treatment technologies, such as surgery, chemotherapy, endocrine therapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, interventional therapy, radiotherapy, and multidisciplinary treatment. It was found that the capability for these treatments varied across hospitals.<br /><br />The study also assessed the availability of anti-cancer drugs and related medications. The accessibility of chemotherapy drugs, new antineoplastic drugs, analgesic drugs, and antiemetic drugs varied across counties.<br /><br />The research concluded that the penetration rate of oncology in Sichuan county of China is 37.7%, with an average of 0.37 radiotherapy machines in each district. Tertiary public hospitals are the main providers of oncology specialties. The study highlighted the need for further development of radiation therapy and improvement in the ability to provide in-hospital genetic diagnosis. While chemotherapy and new anti-cancer drugs were found to be accessible, there is room for improvement in the availability of new antiemetic and analgesic drugs.<br /><br />Overall, this research provides valuable insights into the current situation of cancer prevention and treatment capabilities in counties in China. The findings can inform future health decisions and help address any gaps in cancer care in these regions.
